How much horsepower does the new Camaro make? No, really?
If GM is to be believed, the 2016 Camaro SS produces 455 brake horsepower. But the guys at Vorshlag Performance decided to find out for themselves.
While participating in Chevrolet’s “Find New Roads” auto journalist press tour, they snuck off to ADM Performance for a quick dyno session. Their Bright Yellow SS features the new LT1 engine and a six-speed manual, as God intended.
The result? 399 horsepower and 406 ft-lbs of torque, both to the rear wheels. “The flat shape of the torque curve is what is remarkable,” Vorshlag mentions in their blog post, “with over 375 ft-lbs measured from 3500to nearly 5500 rpms.”
Conclusion? “This thing just makes power everywhere.” Read the post for a detailed breakdown of the sixth-gen Camaro, including a peek at the “sound tubes” and a weigh-in: 3,668 pounds, to be specific.
