Remember that 239mph Camaro built by Late Model Racecraft that set the Texas Mile record? A year later, it faced the runway, again. And it broke the record. But not before narrowly avoiding a disaster of incredible proportions.
Watch as the Camaro completes the Texas Mile—setting a new record at the time—before getting skittish past the finish line. It’s a credit to driver Josh Ledford for keeping his cool as the car gets ate up with motor. He even manages to hold on with one hand while completing his shifts.
This year’s entire run was plagued by mishaps at speed: “the day before this run the car caught on fire at 243mph,” says High Tech Corvette, “and at the last Texas Mile the car had both rear tires go flat at 220mph.” It takes chutzpah to hold onto a car while its tire blows out at over 200mph.
