“This is by far the loudest car I have ever driven,” says Matt Farah of Tuned and The Smoking Tire, as he takes AVI Racing’s monstrous Corvette GT1 around Arizona’s Inde Motorsports Park. Pardon the pun, but that sounds promising to us.
AVI Racing took a C6 Corvette and redesigned their own tube-frame chassis underneath the bodywork, which is made from carbon fiber and Kevlar, for a weight under 3,000 pounds. A 28-gallon fuel cell, 14-inch Brembo brakes, 305-width track slicks, an LS3 engine tuned to 505 horsepower and suspension bits from GM’s Performance Parts catalog, to keep things simple.
The GT1 was designed to be reliable, user-friendly, simple to work on, and most importantly, fast as hell…which, of course, it is.
