It was only a matter of time before Hennessey threw the 2016 Camaro SS onto the dyno. And out of all the dyno videos we’ve seen with the brand new sixth-gen, this one rules the horsepower wars.
431 horsepower to the rear wheels—that’s the highest figure we’ve seen fresh from the printouts. HP Motorsports eked out 422, while Lingenfelther managed 409. 427 rear-wheel lb-ft of torque is a pretty impressive figure, too.
So if a Camaro SS is churning out that figure at the wheels, then by some estimates, it’s really putting out north of 470 horsepower at the crank. Remember: it’s rated at 455 horsepower by Chevrolet.
So if all of that’s true, then we have a Camaro that is too modest for its own good.
