Some restomods are just better than others, and this 67′ Corvette Stingray featuring a new 2015 LT1 engine and a host of other modern internals is by far one of those. The C2 Corvette represents the pinnacle for America’s Sports Car, and this modern interpretation is one of the best we’ve ever come across.
As noted by the auction page, this “new” custom-build was finished earlier this year by Bill Kuhn of His Place, Inc. in Emmitsburg, Maryland.
This build ditches the original Tri-Power 427 for a brand new 2015 LT1 Corvette engine, which puts out 460 horsepower, and eliminates the nose-heavy weight of a big block.
The new LT1 is mated to a Tremec 5-speed transmission with a hydraulic clutch and a 3.73:1 final gear ratio, that will help keep the late-model engine in an optimal RPM band for enjoyment or fuel economy. Beneath this car is a complete C4-series Corvette suspension, tubular chassis, and four-wheel disc brakes (13-inch front and 12-inch rear).
A Flaming River tilt column with electric steering, electric air conditioning, and modern AM/FM stereo equipment with Bluetooth connectivity are part of the comforts located in the posh Red leather interior with head-rest topped seating.
In keeping with the vintage theme, the iconic side-pipe exhausts are still functional, and the 18-inch Grand Sport wheels are the only hint that this car is more than meets the eye.
