Vintage 2,000-horsepower Corvette wrecks it

It’s hard to believe that there’s 2,000 horsepower from the Plastic Fantastic bodywork of this late C3 Corvette, but anything’s possible. It’s even harder to watch it crash.

But crash it does, and all after a long day of laying down rip-roaring launches. It’s a beautiful Corvette alright: with a little red stripe on its menacing black paint, that huge turbocharger mounted down low, and a powerful, bulging hood that can’t even contain all the pipework.

At night, however, things head south. The massive Corvette loses traction and fishtails in the middle of the track—and you might think the driver will catch it, and catch it again, and once more, but it eventually heads right into the wall.

Fortunately, the driver walks away. But that’s going to be one 2,000-horsepower Corvette that will need a lot of work.
