It’s a battle of the classics, and it’s proof that no matter how rare or valuable your classic Chevrolet is, there’s still room to build a mean drag machine out of it.
This is a gorgeous mid-Sixties C2 Corvette, up against a first-gen Camaro. The latter pops a wheelie itself, but the Corvette is up on its rear, bouncing up and down nearly half the length of the strip, and finishing its awe-inspiring run with a time of nearly 10 seconds dead. Nearly into the 9s? Not bad.
Where’s the Camaro? It’s nowhere to be seen.
The video is short, but certainly sweet, and it doesn’t take much time for the Corvette to show its dominance. Not all vintage Corvettes are driven by Hawaiian-shirted leisurely types. Some of them even know what they’re doing on the dragstrip.
