An empty runway under cloudy skies plays host to the oldest vehicular rivalry in the books.
The Corvette C7 Z06 is running an automatic transmission, huffing E85 through a custom tune. The black GT500 receives a ton of mods to match up fairly: 2.3-liter TVS supercharger, cams and headers, and a tune from AED. It’s also running E85. And it’s purring along at a sweet 814 rwhp.
Advantage Ford, right? But it suffers from traction problems off the line, and as a result is thoroughly trounced, three times. When it crosses the line, it’s building up at 163mph. The Z06? It beat it at just 147mph. But a line is a line.
A roll race would be a much better gauge of both car’s abilities. Maybe there’s room for a rematch.
