Damn near anything can be improved by Chevy small-block power. Especially its rivals.
This Fox-body Mustang gets the token LS swap, sure—which is a recipe for lightweight, powerful fun—but also gets an 88mm turbocharger. The 5.3-liter engine and turbo combination were enough to claim victory at two separate Street Car Takeovers, in Nashville and Indianapolis.
That returned a quarter-mile time of 8.89 seconds at one race, at 154 mph. And the Mustang averaged the high-8 mark through all these races shown above: and whether it was against newer Mustangs, a Firebird, or a Chevy street truck, the Mustang most likely dominated.
