It doesn’t take much to send a C6 Corvette Z06 into the nine-second range. A cam swap and some headers, according to Corvette Forum, and some stickier tires.
But that already is faster than a C7 Z06, minus the new-car cost—and against a couple of Mustangs, it pulls hard and battles it out.
Against a Mustang GT500, it’s an easy win. But against a Roush Stage III Mustang, the battle is real close: the Corvette sets consistent times in both races, in the mid-10s.
Corvette Forum is being modest: “Given that most of us aren’t looking to drive a 7-second Z06 on the street, a slightly more ‘average’ Z06 is something of a welcome sight.”
