Nitrous and nine hundreds: power-mad Corvette ZR1 takes on the “SpoolBus”

A 100-shot of nitrous is good for 950 rear-wheel horsepower in this C6 Corvette ZR1—along with an E85 tune and bolt-ons.

But is it good enough to defeat the 1,000-horsepower “SpoolBus?”

Living up to its school-bus yellow paint, this 996-generation Porsche 911 Turbo packs pricey HRE wheels, hugely upgraded turbos, and mods from New Jersey-based Undercover Performance, which specializes in luxury German tuning.

They must know what they’re doing there, because this Porsche is a beast. Rolling out from 50mph, the Vette keeps up, but just barely. At 60mph the Vette fares a bit better, and the noise is intoxicating. But it’s the next few runs where the Vette is going, going, gone.

Some YouTube commenters are crying that the Vette could’ve used a “driver mod,” and we know how much of a difference that makes. But hey, when the stakes are this high, maybe the true mod is getting a motorcycle.
