This might be the most frightening Corvette dragstrip crash we’ve ever seen.
NHRA racer Sidnei Frigo launched off the line in Houston under scary circumstances, losing traction right out of the gate. But he seemed to have saved it. Until he veered across the center line, front-end bodywork getting crumpled in the process, and wiggled about a bit.
Then, he got all four wheels off the ground. And headed into the wall.
What happens next is devastating, and shocking, and ridiculous, and very much worth watching—but it’s important to remember that Frigo escaped with merely a broken arm in the process. He was extracted and airlifted, just to be sure.
Check out the whole thing, above. It’s a reminder of how fast these guys go, and how safe our cars are today, but that doesn’t make it any less dangerous.
