Watch a 1969 Camaro break 200mph, consistently

Drag Week 2013 saw this 1969 Camaro with a 615 ci all-aluminum block with a twin turbocharged setup of 96mm Precision turbos. And weighing in at barely over 3,000 pounds, it’s no surprise that it sees speeds of over 200mph.

Its first quarter-mile pass was 6.7 seconds at 214 mph. Its next few passes remained just as consistent. Listen to those turbos spool as it leaps off the line. Its best-ever time? In Bowling Green, Kentucky, it ran a 6.7-second time at 217.42 mph.

And after surviving 1,000 miles and four tracks in under a week, this Camaro holds Drag Week’s first-ever record of five consecutive six-second passes, ever. It even towed a trailer from track to track. No wonder it won Drag Week 2013.
