Vengeance Racing is known for building twin-turbo Corvettes that destroy any strip of pavement put in front of them. But this naturally-aspirated C5 Corvette Z06 proves that the Georgia-based shop doesn’t need superchargers or turbos, or a pair of turbos, to set a record.
This C5 started off as packing a 440 LS7 stroker motor, but its owner wanted more, more, more. So, instead of adding nitrous to that combination, Vengeance built a RHS Tall Deck 474ci long block with All Pro single-plane intake with 4500 throttle body, American Racing two-inch long tube headers, and a custom four-inch exhaust.
The transmission is a custom TR6060 from RPM, with matching differential, and a carbon clutch kit.
The result is good for 744 rear-wheel horsepower and 646 ft-lbs of torque. And in the half mile, it shows: score hing it at 179.77 mph. That’s good enough for a new naturally-aspirated record, and a very satisfied owner, we’d presume.
